Sake Sensation: The Kyoto Sour Recipe

The Kyoto Sour is a delightful and refreshing twist on the classic sour recipe, incorporating Japanese flavors and a unique textural element. Here's what you'll need to craft this delicious cocktail:

Ingredients:

2 ounces Sake (preferably a Junmai variety)

¾ ounce Fresh Lemon Juice

¾ ounce Agave Nectar

2 dashes Green Tabasco Sauce

2 Grapefruit Slices (for muddling and garnish)

Mint Sprig (for garnish)

Instructions:

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the grapefruit slices with the green Tabasco sauce. This releases the vibrant citrus flavors and infuses the drink with a subtle peppery kick.

Add the sake, lemon juice, and agave nectar to the shaker.

Fill the shaker with ice. The ice will chill the drink as you shake and dilute it slightly, creating a smooth and balanced cocktail.

Shake the ingredients vigorously for about 15 seconds. This ensures the flavors are well combined and the drink is nicely chilled.

Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.

Garnish your Kyoto Sour with a grapefruit slice and a mint sprig. The grapefruit slice adds a pop of color and a citrusy aroma, while the mint sprig provides a refreshing touch.

Tips:

A Junmai sake, made with 100% rice, is a good choice for this cocktail. It has a clean and slightly sweet flavor profile that complements the other ingredients. However, feel free to experiment with other sake varieties to find your favorite.

Agave nectar adds a touch of sweetness and a subtle floral note. You can substitute simple syrup if you prefer.

Feeling adventurous? Add another dash or two of green Tabasco sauce for a more pronounced peppery kick.

Don't have fresh grapefruit? You can use grapefruit juice, but the flavor won't be quite as vibrant. Use ¾ ounce of grapefruit juice if you go this route.

Enjoy Responsibly!

The Kyoto Sour is a delightful and refreshing cocktail, perfect as an aperitif or enjoyed on a warm evening. Remember to enjoy responsibly and be mindful of the alcohol content.
