Scofflaw Cocktail Recipe

The Scofflaw, a rye or bourbon-based cocktail, is a refreshing taste of history. Invented during Prohibition, its name means "one who flouts the law," a fitting tribute to speakeasy ingenuity.

1 oz rye whiskey or bourbon

1 oz dry vermouth

½ oz fresh lemon juice

½ oz grenadine

1 dash orange bitters (optional)

Lemon twist (for garnish)

Fill a shaker with ice and prepare your chilled coupe glass.

Add your chosen amount of rye whiskey or bourbon, dry vermouth, lemon juice, and grenadine to the shaker.

Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to ensure everything is well-chilled and combined.

Strain the concoction into your chilled coupe glass.

Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink and garnish with the twist.

Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.

If you don't have orange bitters, you can skip them without affecting the core flavors.

For a sweeter drink, add a bit more grenadine to taste.

Experiment with different ratios of ingredients to find your perfect balance.

Raise a glass to this delightful and refreshing cocktail, a reminder of creativity and perseverance during challenging times.  Enjoy responsibly, and explore the different variations to discover your favorite Scofflaw!
